Sky views

Ten quick sketches in guache. The different shapes and colors the sky is able to produce never stops to amaze me. And the paintings never do it justice - but a painting arguably captures it better than a camera. I guess its something to do with the speed with wich the clouds move, reflected in the quick brushwork. Also, the eye is more sensitive to colors and you are able to enhance the color contrasts as you paint. Any way, some times I just have to get the paint kit out. These take typically about 10-15 minutes, including a little pencil work at first.

All of these are from my local area. I think Norwegian skies are possibly the most interesting in the world. It's the arctic light perhaps....
