A straightforward headline for a straightforward nature study. This is from nearby my home. I wanted to post this because I was happy with the way the pencil ang guache (and brown paper) worked together. I started with pencil and added guache. The sun of course shifted so the rocks originally lit up became dull and shaded. But will try this way of working again for sure. Redering the different sides of the rocks in a way that brought the form out clearly and simply became a focus here. I think I am getting better at looking, thinking, selecting and simplifying forms and tonal values. That is one way of summing up the drawing process any way. Speaking og that, I love a lot of older illustrators and painters work for their draughtmanship. One artist I discovered recently is Carl Rungius, an american wildlife painter. He was great at simplifying yet staying faithful to the subject. Check it out at wildlifeart.org for instance.
