A political cartoon

This one I did a few years ago for Grenda, a local newspaper that also comissions some other drawings featuring on this site. One of my few attempts at political cartooning, and a fairly innocent one. What they are holding are symbols of their respective political parties, and apparently entering an alliance of convenience, not of love. I Can't remember the issue it comments on.
I don't think I would have the stomach for commenting on national or international politics. I do admire artists who come up with clever visual solutions though. This is a whole world of illustration in its own right. I do wonder if it creates more problems than can be justified, through sharp satire and ridicule. But that's a different story. People have to be able to "kick upwards"..
